Steve McQueen is back to the big screen with Blitz; a beautiful and very human insight into World War II.
In a recent interview with Film London, Supervising Location Manager Jonah Coombes said “London is the key thread that ties it all together, and the long list of locations that we featured were those that we felt best portrayed that version of wartime London on screen.”
Cue, FilmFixer!
We had a number of shoots in Southwark including a particularly special shoot that left onlookers saying they’d never seen the Thames look so impressive.
The action of the scene was being filmed in a barge off of Wapping Pier, but the real star of the show was the lighting. The crew were positioned at 4 different locations along the opposite bank of river and the impact was truly sensational (pictured is the POV from Cumberland Wharf Park).
Blitz is available to stream on Apple TV.
